big plans: living room chairs

As I type this, I'm waiting for this fabric to be delivered:

So that the upholsterer can recover these ($50 craigslist) chairs for me in it:

They're gonna look f---ing awesome.

new coffee table and rug

I've had this "new" coffee table for a while now, but haven't had a chance to post about it until now.  I found this for a cool $40 on craigslist and it was well worth every penny.  I wanted a bigger coffee table but didn't want to feel like it was taking up tons of visual/physical space, so the glass works perfectly.

The new striped rug (from IKEA) is also a dream -- I had been waiting for it to get back in stock for WEEKS and made a mad dash to IKEA about two weeks ago when I saw on their website that it had been restocked.  I love how it punches up the room.

Yesterday I treated myself to some pretty colorful roses from Whole Foods and now they're making me happy sitting there on the table in their little yellow ginger jar vase.

new window seat cushions: before and after

I know it's been a long time since I've posted design stuff on here, but I've been super busy and waiting on a few projects to be finished.  I've finally started getting some stuff reupholstered, including the (previously gross) cushions on my window seat.  Kevin pretty much destroyed the old cushions with his dirty paws, and, while I don't have a picture of the old ones per se, I do have a shot of Kevin sitting on them:

You can see that the cushions were super drab and dingy -- I inherited them from the previous owners of my condo.

I found this cool colorful oil cloth on eBay for $6.99/yard and an upholsterer on Yelp, too, (Upholstery by Jorge) who did a great, very fast job.  Here's the finished product -- I love how much more vibrant the cushions are now:

The oil cloth looks a little greenish in the picture, but the background is actually light blue.  I picked this fabric so that Kevie's paws can't destroy the cushions now.  So far, he seems to like them!
